Bookclub VR - Love Books? Join the club

Here at Beach, we have deep experience in designing rich immersive experiences for VR, AR and MR platforms, such as Meta Quest.

We spent the last two and half years working with a leader in the visual work and collaboration category to reimagine team work for the latest generation of virtual and mixed reality.

Unfortunately, just as we were about to launch, the funding that supported our future plans got pulled, which has been pretty typical of the technology and gaming industries in the past couple of years.

We got so close.

Not to be deterred, our team regrouped and decided that we would put our collective talents back into action and bring about our own new product for the Quest Platform.

…and so Bookclub VR was born.

This topic will be an ongoing community thread where will chat about everything going on with the project, from inception, through our early stages of discovery, design, build, test and learn towards one day, perhaps launching full on the Quest store.

We’re really proud of our creative process. It’s not perfect, it’s constantly evolving but we’ve been learning from the best in the business and it works well for us.

In this post, Ashley gives you a brief look at how we use tools such as Figma, Gravity Sketch, Figjam and 3D modelling software such as Autodesk 3DSMax, before heading into Unity.

A few screenshots of the 2D web UI coming together. What do you think of the style and approach?

I like the warmth of the orange accent colour.
